Declare His Glory among the nations

“Sympathy is no substitute for action.” — David Livingstone, missionary to Africa

“If God calls you to be a missionary, don’t stoop to be a king” — Jordan Groom (variations of this also credited to G. K. Chesterson, Thomas Carlyle and Charles Haddon Spurgeon)

“What’s your dream and to what corner of the missions world will it take you?” — Eleanor Roat, missions mobilizer

“The gospel is only good news if it gets there in time” — Carl F. H. Henry

“The supreme task of the church is the evangelization of the world.  No one has the right to hear the gospel twice until everyone has had an opportunity to hear it at least once.”  – J. Oswald Smith, Vital Christianity, June 1979

“We must be global Christians with a global vision because our God is a global God.” — John Stott

“No reserves. No retreats. No regrets” — William Borden

The quotes above were recorded throughout time by the Church’s leading missionaries all over the world. I can’t help but be overwhelmed by the fact that when we step off that plane on Tuesday night in Africa, we’re not starting anything new. We’re running head long into a global war for the Glory of God that has been waging for over 2,000 years.

What do we fight against and who is our opposition? Is it against this New England blizzard that’s on the verge of crashing down on Boston the day before we leave? A storm that can delay and even cancel all of this?

Is it against Joseph Kony, the leader of the  Lord’s Resistance Army in Uganda? Against the man who is responsible for the slaughtering of hundreds of thousands of innocent people, and for the forcing of children to butcher their friends and families?

“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 6:12

This shouldn’t sit easily in our stomachs, not when the cost of making sure everyone on earth has heard the good news of Jesus is intense suffering. Not when hundreds of thousands of people whom you will never even hear the names of have been abused, tortured and martyred in the name of Jesus and his love for the nations.

This will be our last post in the United States and in all reality, may be our last ever. We want to thank everyone who has contributed in prayer or finance and helping us make our calling to reach the ends of the earth a reality.

We leave in joy, but not without the understanding of what this calling may ask of us.  We ask for prayer, copious amounts of prayer. safety is a huge prayer request, but it’s not our mission. Please pray, above all else, that God would be glorified.

We love you with the incorruptible Love of Christ,

Tommy, Virgnia, Dave, Luke and Kristen
