Reads "life" one way, but what about upside down?..

“As it is my eager expectation and hope that I will not be at all ashamed, but that with full courage now as always Christ will be honored in my body, whether by life or by death.”  -Philippians 1:20

I am discovering that this verse should be extended to fit more scenarios. Paul is saying that he will honor God and give him glory whether he is dead or alive. This is the extreme, but what are steps to that mindset?

I will give honor and glory to God…

  • when I am sick or when I am well.
  • when I am crippled and handicapped, or when I am fully healthy.
  • when I am struggling and failing to pay bills, or when I am grossly blessed with wealth.
  • when I am single for the rest of my life, or if I have a spouse and family.
  • when I lose a close friend, or when I gain a close friend.
  • when I fail, or when I succeed.
  • when I have nothing in this world, or when I have everything in this world

I pray that I can glorify you in all that I do and all that I am, whether flush or bust, up or down. I thank you for blessing me in the ways that you do, and for loving me enough to send your son to die for me. I am more than satisfied– help me live in a way that shows it.
